The Envy of My Running Friends

Image
If you are a runner, then you know that most drivers do not really pay in attention to us and if they do, they are normally impatient. Agreed though is that some runners are obnoxious but the majority of us are not when it comes to running in traffic. You will love this short video of an older woman who gives an impatient driver what he deserves and she does something most of us would love to do. Merry Christmas to all my running friends.

Interesting pattern of numbers in the title. I always disliked those problems in math where you had to figure out the pattern. I was and still am terrible at those things. You look at the pattern and figure out the next set of numbers. I am terrible at those problems. So what do these numbers have in common? 5 - a couple of weeks ago my dr. let me start running 5 min. easing into it 8 - I got to move to 8 min/day running 10 - I got to move to 10 min/day running 12 - you picking up the pattern yet? 15 - two days in a row of running 15 continuous min w/ no pain (yesterday and today) I have traveled quite a bit this week. I flew to KC on Tuesday after work, spent the night with my dad and headed to Bolivar for FUGE. Our first week of camp at my alma mater and it went great. Wonderful team lead by Brady. Was great to be back on campus after 25 years and  I got to stay with my mother-in-law. We had a great time together and got a little painting done along with a little sink dr...

Seeing Clearly

So, it has been awhile since I have blogged. Not a good reason other than reacclimating to this side of the world took it's sweet time and either the trips are getting harder or I am getting older. Probably the latter. Last week was filled with being in town all week! What a treat. I really like my job but I also like being at home. The girls were home all week so it was good to be able to spend some time with them. It is weird that they come home just long enough to have us get used to them being around and then they are up and gone again. I know they are looking forward to this semester and were ready to get back among their friends. The week went pretty well. We attended a wedding Saturday night at The City Club in Nashville and it was really nice. Those of you who know me, know that weddings are not my favorite events, but this one was an exception. Our friend, Julie Burden, married Jason Crook who is fine young man to say the least. Sort of weird that she exchanged her last ...

Gone All This Week

Image
Last week it was home all week and this week it is gone all week. I left Monday am and headed to Destin, FL (I know tough assignment) for a couple of church visits and then Metro Youth Minister's meeting. This is a group of about 60 of the largest church youth groups in the US and they meet once a year. It is always good to connect with them. I flew to CA yesterday to participate in Equipped for Excellence . It is a large one-day training experience for the Inland Empire Association. I will be leading many things related to youth ministry. Of course, they will hear alot about the LifeWay Student Development Strategy . I enjoy these training sessions. My running has been going pretty well. I mentioned in my last post that I had some buddies running Boston and all of them did well. Congrats to David, Gene, Bob, and Ted. I still am planning to running Boston next year and hoping to get some of my buddies from Nashville qualified this Fall. This has been an incredibly busy Spring it se...

At Home All Week

Image
It has been great to be home all this week. It was good to have the whole family together for Easter. Monday through Wednesday we hosted a Student BETA Conference at LifeWay and it went great. It was so refreshing and encouraging to listen to and learn from youth ministers. We had invited 21 youth ministers here to hear about our student development strategy and to hear what LifeWay Student Ministry can do to learn from them. It was an exciting time. I love that fact that I get to work with youth ministers across the nation and even some around the world. Last night we hosted a get together for our sunday school class from New Hope and laughed until we cried. What a great group of students and what a priviledge to just get to hang out with them. Family is good. It is Banquet night for Morgan. She has had many of her friends come through the house today for their make-up to done by my wife. She dabbles in BeautiControl and made the girls look more beautiful than they already were. N...
