Morgan Still Improving

It is good to have Morgan at home and all of us under one roof. She slept most of the day yesterday and thankfully did not need anything stronger than extra strength tylenol for pain. She is eating more and more and thanks to the Drummonds for providing some chicken and rice soup, she even got some solids in yesterday.

She has a follow up with the surgeon on Friday and we are working with her teachers about catching up on school work. She is still pretty weak and tired, but we hope to get her back in school at least part of the day beginning Monday.

Thanks for your continued prayer for her.

On another note, her basketball team played last night and they gave Shelbi's two points to Morgan in the Tennessean this morning. Pretty good to score from the couch about 40 miles away. Not good for Shelbi who does not get her name in the paper. It is a recurring mistake for the Tennessean so I think Shelbi is getting used to it.

Paul---you tell Shelbi that I have a friend whose son used to be the kicker for Ezell. Every Saturday morning when she would go look in the stats to see her son's name, the Tennesseean always would say "kick good". The mom called the paper and blessed them out and told them her son's name was Jacob, not kick good!! ha ha

Missions, Friends, Rain & Beach

So recently there has been a lot of talk about me building some margin into my life and I would like to tell you that I have made great strides in that area but that might be a stretch. Except, this week, Sondra and I have been on vacation. After spending a little time with my friends at World Changers and their worship leaders this summer, Sondra and I climbed in the car and headed east. Our first stop was in Maryville, TN to see our friends the Kooch's. Wonderful friends who used to live in Nashville and moved to the Knoxville area and we have kept in touch with them over the years. On Sunday, we headed to Florence, SC and stayed a couple of days with Tom and Georgina Carringer. Other friends of ours who used to live in Nashville but Tom is a big shot at ACS now and they are based in Florence. We enjoyed seeing them and Jacob and Denise and their three, Malachi, Zeke and Fiona. All three of the kids were great to be around and so were their parents. It was great to catch up ...

Informational "Discipleship"

The last few years I have become more and more aware that we are people obsessed with information. We are consumed by it. We google, read articles in actual print form, download, surf, watch, engage, and what not (what they heck is that filler phrase anyway? what not? stop saying it, it means nothing) trying to get more information so we can be "smarter", "in the know", what not. (See there it is again. We would not normally type it so quit saying it!) (ENOUGH FILLER WORD RANTING YOU SAY!) Agreed. I spent the weekend with youth leaders in AZ and am about to spend the week with youth leaders from all over the US and Texas. (Most people from TX forget that they are actually US citizens). Many will come looking for more information to help them to be more effective in ministry to students.
