The Way

Sondra and I are going on a mission trip to Guatemala in July. Here is a letter that we are sending out asking you to pray for our team and to consider supporting us financially. Thanks for praying and considering a financial gift as well. Dear friends and family, Paul and I have the opportunity to be a part of a mission trip to Guatemala.   We will be going July 8-15, 2017 with a group from Hermitage Hills Baptist Church.   This is Sondra’s fourth trip to Guatemala and Paul’s first.   Our focus this year is discipleship and training through vacation bible school for children and discipleship and bible study for youth and adults.   In previous years part of our time has been spent on construction, but that is not our focus this time.   The church project in Las Conchas is almost complete, and we actually hope to hold the first service in that location while we are there!   What a celebration this will be! If you can't feed a hundred people, then feed just one.   Mother Teresa  I do not think I used this quote from Mother Teresa just because I returned from India this past month, but it probably did influence me using it. Many of the pictures of people that are in my mind, at times excite me and others break my heart. It is so exciting to see so many in India that I had met four years prior, who have grown leaps and bounds. So many new believers who are fully engaged in ministry and in leadership. Existing believers who have grown and matured in their faith and are leading others to do the same. It was so exciting! In other areas of our work there, poverty still exists at alarming rates. So many pictures of Slumdog Millionaire type people who are great people who need a great Savior and very basically, food. It is 730ish a.m., Sunday, here in Braila Romania and most of the team is stirring around upstairs. Safe to say that many of them are pretty tired as am I but we got a good night's sleep last night. We are staying at the Home of Hope Orphanage and it is very nice accommodations with good warmth, nice beds, and hot water. Yea! (and internet obviously) We have a total of 18 on the team and soon will be headed out to serve two different churches in the Braila area. Our team will be leading in worship through singing, testimonies, preaching and whatever else they would like for us to do. The afternoon is to consist of doing some children's ministry and encourage them to come back each day after school. We have many crafts, games, and lessons planned for them. Our trip went very well. 10 of us left from Nashville about 630p on Friday and met the other 8 in Dulles, (who had come from Dallas, Charleston, and other places I am not remembering right now).
